Your First Indoor Golf Session in San Antonio: What to Expect

3 min read

If you have never used a golf simulator, you do not need to learn every number on the screen before you visit. Start with the same things you would bring to a normal practice session: your clubs, a clear idea of what you want to do and enough time to settle in.

At Elite Golf in North San Antonio, your booking gives you a private Trackman iO bay. You can practice, play virtual golf or spend part of the session doing each. Here is a straightforward way to plan your first visit.

Book the right kind of visit

If you mainly want to see the facility and understand how it works, schedule a free tour and demo. If you want time to play, use the bay calendar to find an available public-play reservation. Public play runs during limited hours; 24/7 access is a membership benefit.

Bring the clubs you normally use

Your own clubs make it easier to connect the indoor experience with your regular golf game. Bring your glove if you use one and wear comfortable clothes and footwear suitable for swinging. If you need to borrow clubs, contact us before your visit so we can discuss what is available.

Read the entry and arrival instructions in your booking confirmation before heading over. Elite Golf uses secure access, so a reservation is a better starting point than an unplanned walk-in.

Begin with a few easy shots

Give yourself a little time to get used to the screen and hitting area. Start with short, comfortable swings and build up gradually. One player should be in the hitting area at a time, with everyone else safely clear of the swing.

For your first session, keep the feedback simple. Carry distance tells you how far a shot travels through the air; total distance also includes the modeled movement after landing. Watching where your shots finish relative to the target can be more useful than trying to interpret every swing metric at once.

Choose one purpose for the session

For practice, pick two or three clubs and learn the distances and shot patterns you produce with a normal swing. For a social visit, choose virtual golf and allow time for everyone to get comfortable with the controls. The number of holes you finish will depend on your group, settings and pace, so leave room to enjoy the experience.

A simple first-hour plan is to spend the opening portion warming up, the middle on practice or virtual golf, and the final few minutes noting what you want to try next time. You can adjust that balance to your group rather than trying to do everything.

Do you need to be an experienced golfer?

You can enjoy a simulator without being a low-handicap player. A first visit can simply be about making contact, seeing ball flight and learning which part of the experience you enjoy. If your goal is a specific swing change, ask us about coaching options rather than feeling you need to diagnose your swing from the screen.

Make the next visit easier

Before you leave, note one useful takeaway: a club distance, a common miss or a practice goal. Members can return at the times that suit their routine and bring up to three guests while remaining present with them. Current membership options and reservation rules are listed on our membership page.
